Through support from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), in July 2009, the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council (AIMSC) was established to provide increased business opportunities for verified Indigenous business organisations.
During 2010 Woodside Energy Ltd became a member of the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council (AIMSC). Woodside believe that there are significant benefits that the AIMSC provide for industry including:
- AIMSC complete the certification process of Indigenous suppliers;
- Woodside will gain increased knowledge on local Indigenous suppliers and their capabilities. This better equips Woodside to match demand with capable Indigenous suppliers; and
- Allowing Woodside to align with the approach of the Federal Government’s ‘Closing the Gap’ policy objectives.
The 19 May 2011 event provides an opportunity for Woodside to co-host an event with AIMSC to promote the diversity of Indigenous enterprises in Australia and to promote the AIMSC to other potential member businesses and Indigenous enterprises.
