membership overview

AIMSC membership provides corporate Australia and government agencies with a tangible way to effectively engage with Indigenous suppliers on a business level. This type of engagement is not based on charity or hand outs and therefore has mutual commercial benefits for both members and suppliers.

AIMSC membership has the following benefits:

  • access to an online database of AIMSC certified suppliers
  • enables members to achieve their procurement goals within their Reconciliation Action Plans
  • provides a clear and quantifiable measure of progress against procurement goals
  • invitations to regular events to exchange and share information on supplier diversity
  • invitations to events  to network with supplier diversity, corporate social responsibility and procurement specialists in the Australian and international contexts
  • assurance that suppliers are majority owned, controlled and managed by Indigenous Australians

Who can become an AIMSC member?

Any organisation with the ability to purchase a minimum of $25,000 of goods, services and products from AIMSC certified suppliers in their first year of membership can become an AIMSC member.

Types of organisations that are eligible for membership include:

  • public and private Australian companies and partnerships
  • franchises
  • local, state and Australian government agencies / councils
  • academic institutions including universities
  • healthcare organisations including hospitals

If your organisation type is not listed above, please contact AIMSC on (02) 9006 1544  to discuss.

All members must have a registered place of business in Australia.

What is required of AIMSC members?

During its three year pilot, AIMSC requires its members, on a best endeavours basis, to:

  • assign a representative to manage the relationship with AIMSC
  • provide AIMSC with quarterly reports on the value and nature of goods, products and services purchased from AIMSC certified suppliers
  • achieve the specified annual level of procurement from AIMSC certified suppliers - goals are based on the size of the organisations spend capacity
  • build the specified annual procurement goals within the performance criteria of the organisation's most senior procurement employee
  • participate in, and support, AIMSC events and activities

To ensure the highest level of commitment to AIMSC and supplier diversity exists, AIMSC requires that all membership application forms are signed by the:

  • Australian company Chief Executive (or Principal Executive Officer)
  • most senior person in the organisation with procurement responsibility (e.g. Chief Procurement Officer, Chief Finance Officer)

Agreeing to the above goals does not create a legal obligation on the member’s behalf.
